What is a Flap Base Divan Storage?

A flap base divan storage (sometimes called a flap-up divan base) is a type of bed base that looks like a standard upholstered divan, but has hidden storage compartments inside — accessed through lift-up flaps on the top surface.

What is it?

A flap base divan is essentially:

  • A solid divan platform base (usually upholstered and matching your headboard/fabric choice),
  • With hinged flaps or panels built into the top surface,
  • That can be lifted open manually to reveal storage space inside the base.

How it works

  • The top of the base has one or more hinged flaps that you lift upward (sometimes assisted by a simple strap or finger gap).
  • Under the flaps is a hollow cavity within the divan frame — perfect for storing extra bedding, pillows, or clothes.
  • When closed, the bed looks completely solid, like a normal divan.
