Guaranteed Irish has announced Briody Bedding Ltd, in partnership with St. Brigid’s GAA club, as one of four winners of its Guaranteed Irish GAA Competition, part of the organisation’s ongoing ‘Are You in The Guaranteed Irish Club’ campaign.
The competition called on Guaranteed Irish member businesses actively involved in their local GAA club, team or county to enter, with entries judged on creativity, community impact and the values that underpin Ireland’s GAA communities. Briody Bedding’s entry stood out among a strong field of submissions from businesses and clubs across the country.
As one of four winning businesses nationwide, Briody Bedding will receive €5,000 for St. Brigid’s GAA club, along with a special gift for the club’s under-14 team. The business and club will also be invited to an exclusive photocall and winners’ event at Croke Park on Wednesday, 9 September.
The ‘Are You in The Guaranteed Irish Club’ campaign was launched to recognise and reward Guaranteed Irish member businesses that give back to their communities, this year through a partnership with the GAA, which plays a vital role in the social, sporting and cultural life of communities across Ireland. The initiative reflects Guaranteed Irish’s ongoing commitment to supporting businesses that, in turn, support Ireland’s communities.
A family-run business, Briody Bedding has supported St. Brigid’s for over 40 years across three generations, with family members serving as players, coaches and volunteers throughout that time. Founder Benny Briody served as Club Chairman and later Honorary President with current Managing Director Martin now the Club’s Coaching Officer. The business has been a continuous club sponsor across the decades — from senior club sponsor in the 1990s to today’s U14 team sponsorship — and has backed everything from juvenile St Patrick’s Day parade floats to the clubroom kitchen to the club’s hosting of Féile in 2018.
Speaking at the event, Brid O’Connell CEO of Guaranteed Irish said; ”The initiative recognises Guaranteed Irish member businesses that go beyond their day-to-day operations to support the people and places around them. This year’s campaign celebrates the central role played by GAA clubs in Ireland’s sporting, social and cultural life. The entries were very impressive, and I would like to say thanks to everyone for their entry and support for their local GAA clubs. ”
Speaking on the award, Martin Briody, Managing Director of Briody Bedding, said: “As a Guaranteed Irish, family-run business, we’ve proudly supported St. Brigid’s GFC for over 40 years. We recognise how the GAA plays such a vital role in building and sustaining strong local communities, and we’re honoured to keep playing our part in that legacy.“
